A question to myself, am I happier with a less technical garment that boasts less features but does a far simpler job, but does it very well.
I think the answer just might be yes. I've recently started using a new product called the Viking Rovi jacket, a simple big box baffle 750FP down jacket. Now I know it’s mid summer and down jackets are actually hibernating, but living on the Scottish coast and having morning and evening mandatory dog walks can sometimes be less Instagram picture perfect and in fact a cold Hoolie.
So this is my reason, but why do I like it so much? I've owned down jackets twice the price and been less happy. The Rovi has enormous pockets so deep that your hand, wrist and lower arm are consumed by warmth and comfort. Not a windproof product but with its strong build and design plus the high quality down fill, I really didn’t feel much or anything. A non technical hood...
